A Fluke and a Blessing
I wish that I could say that I set out to develop a product and spent years looking for just the right one. In truth, developing ShookS was a fluke and a blessing. I had purchased a necklace that went perfectly with an open neck sweater of mine. I love the necklace; it's a beautiful deep aqua blue that brings out the color of my eyes. One morning, I was getting ready for work and had put on a blouse that was similar in color. It occurred to me that I could wear the necklace with that blouse. I was so disappointed to find that the necklace was too short to hang right because of the collar. Since the clock was ticking, I settled on wearing a different necklace.  I promised myself that I would find a way to make that necklace work the next time I wore the blouse. 

My Ugly Little Secret
At first I tried using paperclips to make the necklace longer. They allowed me to adjust the length of the necklace at intervals which I liked, but they weren't very pretty. I was paranoid that the necklace would spin and allow everyone to see my ugly little secret! I decided that my extenders needed to be pretty and adjustable.

Jumping Jacks
After bending wire into various shapes and experimenting with them, I decided on its "S" shape. I exercised, did jumping jacks and wore the pieces until I was satisfied with their ability to do the job right. These pieces were still just wire and weren't very pretty. I found myself faced with a difficult decision. If I was going to accomplish my goal, I'd have to take the next step and find a manufacturer.

A Defining Moment
I truly felt God was asking me to define myself. It was as if He were looking me in the eyes and asking me, "Who are you? Will you run with this or will you lay it down?" In my heart I knew I had to be the one to run with it! So, I started soliciting manufacturers. I thought of ShookS as a "widget" and thought that having it manufactured was going to be the easy part but it wasn't. Thankfully, I finally found a manufacturer in Chicago who stepped up to the plate! 

A Product for You
I'm grateful that I'm able to provide this product for you. I'm grateful for my manufacturer's efforts and dedication. I'm grateful for my family and friends who talked me down off the ledge when I was overwhelmed by the task. (I've worked three jobs to pay for product development and personally packaged the initial 13,185 units sold on QVC.)  Lastly, I'm thrilled with the positive feedback that I've gotten from all of you!
